Can anyone tell me a good home remedy for mosquito repellent? My back yard is full of mosquitoes.?

Any volatile plant oils, which can be found in a natural foods store or aromatherapy shop will repel mosquitos without the use of DEET. This include:

Citronella Oil

Castor Oil

Rosemary Oil

Lemongrass Oil

Cedar Oil

Peppermint Oil

Clove Oil

Remove any buckets, pails or anything else that might hold standing water, the suckers like to reproduce near standing water. Can anyone tell me a good home remedy for mosquito repellent? My back yard is full of mosquitoes.?
Pour bleach in everything that holds water, buy ';citronella plants'; and plant them in the back yard. If you have a pond there are these floaty things that kill them. Yard guard spray will kill them.
The best mosquito repellent I ever found was Avon's Skin so Soft and that's not a home remedy, really. I hope with that many mosquitoes, you have your dog on Heartguard.
Most insects do not like tobacco juice. I think you could make a tea out of chewing tobacco, get the twists and not the bags which have too much sugar in them. Grind them up and put them in several layers of cheese cloth and place then into a bucket or tub filled with warm water. Strain it in other cheese cloth until there are no solid particles. Add a teaspoon of liquid detergent to it and then spray it on the grass, any plants, etc. That will stop aphids from your rose bush, any type of bug that eats leaves on plants like Rhododendren or Azeala or anything basically. To spray it, put it into a pump up sprayer. I know some people that will put urine intot he mix, it does not hurt anything.

redo after a rain.
We always used Avons Skin-so-Soft--it reallt works!
OK, mosquitos..

Bob, a fisherman, takes one vitamin B-1 tablet a day

Hasn't had a mosquito bite in 33 years. Try it.

Every one he has talked into trying it works on them.

If you eat bananas,

the mosquitos like you, - something about the banana oil

as your body processes it.

Stop eating bananas for the summer and the mosquitos

will be much less interested.

This is going to floor you, but one of the best

insect repellents someone found (who is in the woods

every day), is Vick's Vaporub.

Plant marigolds around the yard, the flowers give off

a smell that bugs do not like,

so plant some in that garden also to help ward

off bugs without using insecticides.

';Tough guy'; Marines who spend a great deal of time

';camping out'; say that the very best mosquito

repellant you can use is

Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil mixed about

half and half with alcohol.

One of the best natural insect repellants that I've discovered

is made from the clear real vanilla. This is the pure Vanilla that is sold in Mexico . It works great for mosquitoes and ticks,

don't know about other insects.

When all else fails--get a frog
You can buy some bags of what is called cedarside(I think that is how it's spelled) at a nursery or garden center. It is very fine cedar shavings, almost flakes, that come in about a 10 gallon bag. Spread it all over your yard and lightly sprinkle with water.
one cup lemon joy dish soap

one cup lemon ammonia

put in garden sprayer that hooks up to hose fill up to top with water then hook up hose and spray the yard
