The Shoo-fly plant. NICANDA PHYSALODES has possibilities even in the English climate. It's an annual which gets up to 5 ft. tall with sky-blue bell flowers an inch wide. Quite a pretty thing. lavender and mint, flies dislike the smell of both you can even pick a small bunch and put it on your kitchen windowsill and it stops them coming in the windows as well - they seem to like the smell of marigolds so try not to plant too many of theseWhat is the most effective fly repellent plant for an English garden?
mint...we use cold black tea with chopped mint as an organic fly repelent for our ponies as they have allergies to chemical stuff....it works better as well...so have lots of mint in the garden
Try sprinkling cinnamon around the plants. Bugs are supposed to hate that.
