Is pepper an effective dog repellent? How about chilli powder?

Or is chili powder to much, but effective? I have some chili powder called ';Pico de Gallo.'; Would this work? I got the idea from a previous answer. Is pepper an effective dog repellent? How about chilli powder?
If you are having problems with dogs then you need to speak to their owners not try to harm the dog with chili Powder. If you harm the dog then you'll not only have to deal with the ASPCA but you'll have one angry dog owner on your hands. If the dogs are running around all over the place, call animal control to have the dog picked up. Trust me if you don't know the dog you don't want to piss off an aggressive dog by getting close enough to spray it with chili powder, if you do I hope you can run faster than the dog. How cruel.

Stop asking this question for crying out loud.Is pepper an effective dog repellent? How about chilli powder?
Why do you want to repel dog's?
what the freak? dog repellent? you could buy one of those really high pitched dog whistles that humans cant hear. when the dog hears it... they run away. please don't spray the dog with chili powder or pepper. how cruel and mean. why do you wan the dog away?
y dont u tell us what the problem is. people on here love dogs and actually want them. so dont come on here and ask how u can get rid of them.

EDIT: well then u need to tell ur frickin neighbor. god. even a monkey would know to talk to ur neighbor. just ask them to either tie up their dogs or watch them when they r outside.
How about you tell us the problem and let us help you with that. If we know what the dogs are doing, we'd be able to give you better advice.

Edit:

Ok, This is different. Dog repellent isn't going to help.

I'd do 2 things. The first is I'd go talk to my neighbor and tell him about the problem. Tell him that you'd really like the dog to stop going in your yard.

If they don't keep the dog in their yard, the next time you pick it up, put ALL of it in a bag and put it on their porch.

If that doesn't work, dump the bag of poop upside down on their porch.

If you see the dog in your yard, call the police.

I'd be polite several times and talk to the neighbor but I'd get tired of this as well - AND I'm a dog owner.
