My cat keeps stratching the upholstery under my bed. What is a good cat repellent for indoor use?

I keep spraying him with water and he's back at it in 5 minutes. I need a repellent. Preferrably something dry that doesn't have to be applied often, and won't smell the place up. Put double-sided sticky tape on it, or some contact paper with the sticky side out. Cats hate that. You could also lay down some rubber mats with the bumpy side up to discourage him from the area: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Pr鈥?/a>

Provide him with some good alternative scratching surfaces: make sure his posts are tall enough (at least 24 inches), very sturdy (cats won't use a post that wobbles), and covered in a rough fabric such as sisal or carpet backing. Most cats don't care for posts covered in soft carpeting. Provide some horizontal scratching surfaces too - a heavy sisal welcome mat works well, or a horizontal scratcher from the pet supply store. See this link for more info: http://www.catscratching.com

(that link also has a link for instructions for trimming the sharp tips off of a cat's claws to reduce clawing damage)

Try Feliway spray - if the scratching is territorial, spraying Feliway on it will help.

Enrich his environment - look for ways to keep him occupied, so he's less likely to resort to destructive scratching habits.

Hope this helps! My cat keeps stratching the upholstery under my bed. What is a good cat repellent for indoor use?
Take some pieces of Scotch tape (or masking), roll them into little rounds so tha the sticky part is facing outside, and stick a few in the areas he's scratching at. No smell, only needs to be re-applied if he's stuck his paw in all of them, and won't damage your apholstery or carpet. My cat was scratching at the edge of my box spring so I stuck the tape rounds on it. After the first time or two that the tape stuck to her paw she decided that piece of matress just wasn't worth it, lol! She moved to a spot on the bottom of the box spring and was making a hole so I placed some more tape rounds there and she hasn't been back, even after the tape got old and fell off.

Trust me, it's a tried and true method!
the best is a spray called boundry you can buy it at petsmart and it costs about 7 dollars a bottle normally.
