What is a good Greenhead fly repellent?

I plan on going to the beach this weekend where Greenhead flies may still be in season. I have only found one solution (a lotion by Avon) and don't want to go out of my way to purchase that. Any good suggestions? What is a good Greenhead fly repellent?
Are you going to Long Beach Island? I'm just curious because I just came back from there.

If the wind is blowing from the west and onto the beach then the flies will most likely be there bothering people. And it's not just the greenheads - the regular flies are there to bother people too.

I made the mistake of spraying ';OFF'; on myself and then going in the ocean. When I came back out I was attacked by a swarm of flies that would not let up. There were hardly any people around and I was by myself. I thought that if I ran to the street, I'd be ok. I was wrong. The flies attacked me all the way to my hotel 2 blocks away. They would not let up. I was on the verge of yelling for help. I had about 12 bites on my right leg alone plus more on other parts of me. I saw blood on my arm. That was at Long Beach Island. My advice: do not even bother with the bug spray such as ';OFF'; it was useless.

One person did tell me that if you dab yourself with Listerine, it works. I didn't have the opportunity to try it. Oh and pray that when you go to the beach, the wind is not coming from the west.

I just read online that of one source who says that greenhead flies do not like gin, especially Tanqueray.

Yet another sources says half blue listerine half skin so soft may work:
