What is the best effective mosquito repellent?

I found this mountain bike park where once you stop you are literally in a CLOUD of mosquitoes, in the middle of the day. I sprayed myself all over with some Walmart repellent and used like a third of the whole can, but still came home with like 30 mosquito bites.

What is hands down the most effective mosquito spray? The kind of stuff that will keep ridiculously pervasive bugs away?

thanksWhat is the best effective mosquito repellent?
The most effective aerosol insect repellant thet I have found is Repel Sportsman's Max. It has 40% deet.

Another good spray is Deep Woods Off, but it only has 25-30% deet.

Any spray with a high deet content works well.

Thermocells are awesome if you don't have to have a spray. What is the best effective mosquito repellent?
I typically look for the repellents that contain the most DEET. It's an effective mosquito repellent. Make sure that you apply it a few minutes before being exposed to mosquitoes.

Also be warned that mosquitoes do bite through cotton t-shirts and other loose weave clothing! So, if you're in heavy bug country, spray not only exposed skin areas, but also t-shirts, socks, and other areas covered by loose weave clothing. (Nylon is typically a tight weave and provides decent protection. Learned that from canoeing trips down the Colorado River.)
This allowed us to survive the black flies and deer flies of the adirondacks. When your inside the tent you can hear the clouds of flies outside your tent. I even woke up a few times thinking i was hearing them inside the tent only to see then sitting on the door of the tent waiting for me to come out. You need Old Woodsman Fly Dope. It`ll keep the skeeters, fliues, ticks and maybe even rabid animals off of you

in the cold medicine isle they have these zinc and echinacea losenges. I always thought my mother was crazy when she would have me take these, but i never really had a lot of bites when i went camping. now every time i go out side, even to have dinner at a restauant i get eaten. Avon skin so soft works well too.

You use more initially but the active ingredient doesn't soak into your skin so you don't have to constantly put more on. Also it means less poison going into YOU! One applicaiton lasts several hours. I try to wash it off a bit before I retire into my tent for the night.
the one with the highest amount of deet or use a bug suit like I do...here is one

DEET is the best mosquito repellent. I try to go with a DEET product that has at least 40% DEET.

You may want to try a Thermacell. It does not make your skin smell and mine has been very effective for me.
