How often should you apply Ugg water repellent to Ugg boots? Also, is there any other way you can clean them?

I got these boots and I was wondering if I needed to reapply the Ugg water repellant spray after a certain amount of time. Also, is there any other way you can clean Ugg boots without using the Ugg products? How often should you apply Ugg water repellent to Ugg boots? Also, is there any other way you can clean them?
How to clean and Protect Sheepskin boots?

Ugg boots tend to keep on lasting. However, to maximize their longevity, they need paying special attention. So plz note that under no circumstances should the Cleaner %26amp; Conditioner be applied directly onto any sheepskin footwear

Follow the general guidelines to ensure that your Ugg boots last for years.

* Do not use your washing machine. Ugg boots should be hand washed.

* Dampen the footwear lightly with clean water (cold is ideal).

* Make sure that you moisten the entire boot evenly while you are cleaning to make sure that you don't end up with visible water lines after they dry.

* It is best to dilute your Cleaner %26amp; Conditioner with an equal part of water (half water, half Cleaner %26amp; Conditioner).

* Apply a sparing amount of the mixed solution to a sponge. Once again, do not apply it directly onto your footwear (that's pretty important!)

* Lightly scrub the entire area until it is clean. As a result of the delicate nature of sheepskin, it can be easily damaged if it is scrubbed too rigorously. Using an undiluted cleaning solution may also damage the sheepskin.

* Rinse with clean water, and then wring out as much water as possible. In order to maintain the shape of the boots, you should stuff them with paper towels (or whatever you have handy) to prevent them from flopping over as they dry. Whatever you do, do NOT leave them to dry in high heat or open sunlight.

* Once your Ugg footwear is finally dry, lightly brush in one direction (only) with a soft suede brush.

Those are your basic care instructions, but there are additional steps you may take to further extend the longevity of your boots.

Deodorize and Soften:

Take 2 tsp. of baking soda and 2 tsp. of corn flour, and then shake the mixed solution inside of your Ugg boots. The result will be a nice softening effect as well as deodorization. If you'd like, you can even add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to give the boots a sweet scent. Let the boots sit with the mixture inside over night, then shake out what's left over the next day.

Water and Stain Repellent:

Although it's not 100% necessary, depending on how heavily you plan to use your Ugg boots and what sort of weather they'll be exposed to, you may want to protect them even further by using the Water %26amp; Stain Repellent.

Follow the instructions as listed on the bottle for the best results.

When used correctly, Water %26amp; Stain Repllent along with Cleaner %26amp; Conditioner will do wonders for your boots. Of course, keep in mind that sheepskin is a very delicate material, and not all types of stains will be easily prevented or removed.

A few days ago, I washed my furry UGGs in the washer and let them air-dry. I brushed out the fur and they are fluffier than ever! The inner sole takes a long time to dry, though :( It just snowed and I want to wear them, but the inside is still wet. Ahhh....patient I must be ;)

The water repellent should be applied about every two weeks once winter really sets in (ie, when it's wet everyday). And I don't know about cleaning them any other way, my friend cleaned and scrubbed hers too much (just with water, I think) and she really ruined them.
