What happens if you spray a bug with bug repellent?

This may seem stupid, but I'm genuinely curious. If the bug repellent truly works, then spraying the bug should cause some form of insanity, right? Or at least make the bug continuously try to avoid itself. I can't find any information on this online but, seriously, am I the only one who wonders about this kind of stuff?What happens if you spray a bug with bug repellent?

well i thought if you spary a bug with bug repellent that they will die.but it is possible that they would still be alive alittle then they will die later.
