Is it true that cigarette smoke will work as a repellent for bees?

If a bee is pestering someone if they blow smoke at it, will the bee fly away?Is it true that cigarette smoke will work as a repellent for bees?
the nicotine messes up their sense of direction.

from an article on colony collapse:

BUT WHAT IF WHAT IS BREAKING DOWN THE IMMUNE SYSTEMS ARE PESTICIDES LIKE THE NEONICITINOIDS?

What if? Well, then we 鈥?unfortunately, right now we鈥檙e trying to run as far away, stay as far away from all those chemicals 鈥?those particular chemicals (nicotine-based) as we can until we figure out what this whole problem is about. We can鈥檛 get totally away from them, but we鈥檙e trying to keep as many bees as we can without coming in contact with those different products.

Most of our growers that we pollinate for have been real cooperative and have not used them. We鈥檙e hoping all this is going to keep more of them alive than we did a year ago.Is it true that cigarette smoke will work as a repellent for bees?
Smoke tends to work. Not necessarily cigarette smoke
If a bee stings you, it will die. You will not. So, is it

really necessary to risk your health to find out?
Most smoke will work as a repellent for bees, including cigarettes. Most smoke used is made from bundled, semi-wet grasses that produce a large amount of smoke. The smoke itself messes up a bees nervous system, calming it down enough to keep it from a stinging frenzy. Always use caution when working with bees as there a many cases now where the Africanized bees have mixed with the native bees here in America and they do get violent.
smoke machines are used to calm bees when you have to approach a hive but they put out a lot more smoke than you could exhale at one time. if it's an africanized bee your cig smoke will just piss it off.
